READI

The Red Euro-Árabe de ONG para el Desarrollo y la Integración (READI) is a Spanish non-profit-making association that comprises 44 legally constituted NGOs from the north and south of the Mediterranean region, all of which specialize in providing assistance and human, social and community development. Its main purpose is to promote dialogue, cooperation and solidarity among Mediterranean countries.

Our goal is to contribute to the creation of a sphere of coexistence in the Mediterranean, through the participation of all spheres of civil society, the business sector and governments on both sides of the Mediterranean, by encouraging debates between cultures and showing that the human capabilities of organizations and communities reinforce the development of civil society throughout this region.

The READI seeks to create a sphere where solidarity is strengthened and development and social commitment experiences are shared with a view to consolidating peace between cultures and combating violence and armed conflicts.

The READI’s main purpose is to “promote the integration of NGOs in the Mediterranean countries through an inter-institutional network that promotes new forms of participation among civil society organizations, governments and the business sector, in order to generate effective and efficient actions that promote all-round human development”.

Our working methods are based on dialogue and reflection, and we continually promote new forms of cooperation among the organizations on both sides of the Mediterranean.

To achieve its purposes, the READI will:

Promote integration and co-participation between NGOs from both southern and northern Mediterranean countries.
Promote new forms of cooperation between civil society organizations, government and the business sector.
Generate effective and efficient actions for all-round human development.
Contribute to the accomplishment of the Millennium Development Goals adopted in the year 2000 at the United Nations Millennium Summit.

Combat the social exclusion of the underprivileged and vulnerable groups
Protect young people
Encourage women’s participation in all spheres of life
Tackle the phenomenon of migration and human exchanges, as well as the resulting problems associated with uprooting and integration
Promote dialogue between cultures and civilizations
Combat organized crime, racism and xenophobia
Advocate the right to a sustainable environment
