    Center for Middle Eastern Studies Opening

    Madrid 2nd and 3rd  February 2007

     
    The CEMOFPSC opening was hold on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2007 with a dinner-colloquium at FPSC head-quarters and a round table on the next day at the Palace hotel in Madrid. On this occasion, the CEMOFPSC invited Nadim Shehadi, Associate Fellow in the Middle East Program of Chatham House and Ana Menéndez, Spanish diplomat, Former Ambassador to the Permanent Mission of Spain to the United Nations in New York.
     
    On the subject “Definition of the objectives and the action plan of CEMOFPSC” four experts: Pilar Lara, Nadim Shehadi, Ana Menéndez and Jumana Trad, presented their propositions.

    To complete its objectives, the CEMOFPSC has programmed different activities of distinctive nature:

     
    Meetings with the experts through colloquial dinners, round tables, work meetings, seminars and conferences. Specialists in the different academic fields will meet to debate issues relevant to the Middle East.
     
    Post-Graduate education, the CEMOFPSC supports international post-graduate programs within the field of social development, international cooperation, political and social sciences, etc. Furthermore, it sponsors and supports the education of young specialists and academic experts within their specialized fields.
     
    Alliances, the CEMOFPSC establish alliances and partnerships with institutions and persons of international prestige in order to attain common objectives.
     
    Publications, the CEMOFPSC will promote a special publication and compilation of work performed in different work areas. These publications will be produced in various forms: work documents, articles written by experts, as well as debate and professional conclusions.
     
    The CEMOFPSC will display these works on their web page www.fundacionfpsc.org where one can consult the contents of these investigations and the relevant texts written by them or others.
     
    CEMOFPSC activities will be open unless the speaker invokes a confidentiality rule. If the speaker doesn’t think the rule is strict enough, the CEMOFPSC in question may be subject to a stricter confidential level.
