About us

The Foundation for the Social Promotion of Culture is a private, non-profit organisation which since 1987 works in favour of human development and the promotion of culture. Its foundational goals are centred on the different realities of the countries in which it works, and on the priorities and proposals of the local partners, beneficiaries and co-funding institutions with which it works, in a clear response to demands and social problems.

Its philosophy settles on a model of “small, agile and independent organization” that allows it to strengthen and to capitalize the realized work and to attack the future challenges over a high capacity of management, optimization of resources and cost economy.

Since June, 2001, it has been credited as a Not governmental Organization, and since 2004 has been reclassified NGO whit General Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of United Nations.

In 2005, we were recognized by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation as a “Qualified Development Non-Governmental Organization.” A recognition in which there are only 20 Spanish non-governmental organizations, and those which can choose to finance the new method of intervention for cooperation titled “agreement.

Thus in 2006, four important Agreements were initiated, and in 2007, one more co-financed by the International Spanish Cooperation Agency for Development for a total amount of 17.177.483euros. Three of these agreements consolidated FPSC’s work in the Middle East in education, assistance to the disabled, and high risk social exclusion groups, and in the development of agriculture and fishing; another will be developed in the Democratic Republic of Congo beginning with the education sector; and the fourth in Vietnam to encourage the development of ecotourism.

Furthermore, in 2006, a work agreement was signed with the European Commission’s Dept. of Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

In April 2008, the FPSC signed a Framework Agreement with the Reina Sofia Foundation.
