Cooperation in Latin America
The Foundation has worked in Latin America since 1992 concentraing on vocational training projects for indigenous women, on generating employment, institutional support, basic health care for vulnerable populations, support to small businesses and rural development in Peru, Honduras, Paraguay, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Columbia, Bolivia, Costa Rica and Panama.
This work, apart from the benefits provided to marginalized sectors of society, strengthens the capabilities of local organizations. This supposes an important contribution to local development and the real possibilities to continue maintaining goals for development within.
During the last years, an important effort has been made to promote women into higher, decision-making positions.
At the same time, the FPSC in 2006 promoted the creation of the NGO’s Network for Development in Latin American countries (REDI) in order to strengthen its strategy with local partners and work towards millennium objectives.
Among the co-financed institutions are the UE, the AEI, Madrid’s Town Council, Madrid’s Regional Government, the Castilla and Leon Regional Governing Body, FID OPEC, and the Valencia County Commission.
